Sculpture in low-relief depicting " The Indians of America" in polychrome color ceramic created by Louis Delachenal and Yves Rual.
Made with several large "tiles", fixed on a wooden plate, old original assembly.
Design and production by Louis Delachenal (1897-1966) and Yves Rual (?) for Etablissements Riviere-Lefort.

Notes
This beautiful allegoric low-relief sculpture is representative of the artistic productions that Louis Delachenal developed in Saint Meen-le-Grand at the end of the 1940's and in the 1950's.
Selective Biography
Louis Delachenal (1897-1966) French ceramicist.
Louis Delachenal, after joining the French army between 1916 and 1919, entered the workshop of Paul Bonifas at Ferney-Voltaire in 1922, where he learned throwning and enameling the ceramics. In 1924, he stated to work for the national manufacture of Sèvres.
In 1932, he became the director of the earthenware workshop.
Louis Delachenal leaved the Manufacture in 1942 to open his own a sandstone factory in Saint-Meen-le-Grand.
He remained the owner until 1960.
Faced with the scarcity of everyday usual itms under the German Occupation, the activity of his workshop was mainly oriented towards the production of culinary objects.
At the same time, he continued his artistic researches and continued to collaborate until 1945 with the Manufacture de Sèvres.
He also developed a applied celadon glaze and registered a patent for thermoformed glass.
Suffering desease, he gradually stoped working from the second half of the 1950s ...
