N° 101
A mantelpiece garniture composed by a clock and its two matching candlesticks in patinated bronze representing an Architectural Capriccio.
On the top of each candlestick, a small statue representing one "The Beauty" and the other one "the Poetry".
Dial and hands in gilded bronze.

 



 

 

 

 

Notes

At the borders of History of Art and Archaeology, the architectural Capriccio is a more or less fanciful architectural scenography, questioning the passing of time and the futility of human entreprises.

Quite classic in painting, architectural capriccio are rarely represented in Decorative Art .
